The Guesthouse at Graceland only mapped out at 46 miles from Covington, so I decided to cycle through Memphis. Graceland is on the South side of Memphis. After less than 30 miles I reached the city limit, yeah:
It was no problem at all to pass through Memphis. I crossed on the height of the Zoo and the neighborhoods looked great. Lots of turn of the century villas. Very beautiful. Memphis is very bicycle friendly with a lot of bike lanes. Terrific.
I finally reached the Guesthouse at Graceland, a wonderful hotel where I am going to stay for the next 3 to 4 nights:
I waited anxiously for Carole, who was flying in from Minneapolis to give me company and boost my morale for the second stretch to Naples. So happy to see her. Of course she came prepared as usual, just in case:
This will do in case we have to transport my bike!
We started to explore Memphis in the afternoon and landed at the pyramid which one of the largest Bass Pro Shops I have seen:
You can ride an elevator to the top of the pyramid and you will have a great view of Memphis and the Mississippi River:
Memphis also lies on one of the Trail of Tears which I also crossed further up North:
Part of the American history as well. There is a lot more to see in Memphis and I for sure will keep you posted.
